NorthWestern Energy (NWE), a major integrated gas and electric utility operating across multiple northwestern states in the USA, has chosen G2 Integrated Solutions (G2-IS) as its trusted partner to further its program to comply with a major component of the Department of Transportation’s Pipeline Safety regulations.
“NorthWestern is committed to exceptional service that our customers and communities count on – safely, efficiently, and responsibly. And while we’ve worked with G2-IS on GIS implementation projects, we’re excited to leverage their industry experience on MAOP Validation projects to tackle this most important initiative,” said Marc Mullowney, Director, Gas Transmission and Storage at NorthWestern Energy.
G2-IS will compile paper and digital records into a readily accessible document structure, providing NWE with improved pipeline records availability to support not just compliance but other corporate business processes. Records will then be mined for the data necessary to confirm Maximum Allowable Operating Pressure (MAOP) for the pipeline and assimilate the findings into NWE’s enterprise Geographic Information System (GIS) database for long-term data maintenance. Using G2’s EaglePy software, G2-IS will configure NWE’s GIS database to improve data accessibility via intuitive, user-centered design of industry pipeline data reporting.
In addition to MAOP validation services, G2-IS will deploy an Enhanced Pipeline Risk Assessment (EPRA) pipeline risk methodology that will enable improved visualization risk assessment results to further support optimization of real-time pipeline integrity decision-making at NWE.
“Our team is committed to helping pipeline operators leverage MAOP validation activities to create more-efficient and effective pipeline risk management solutions that provide valuable operational intelligence and decision support. Our focus is on enabling Operator’s own staff to spend more time managing pipeline integrity business processes rather than on administrative pipeline data management functions, and we are very pleased to be able to extend our successful prior GIS focused relationship with NWE into this additional element of our services portfolio,” said David Corbett, G2’s Chief Executive Officer.
